Family Activities – Week 7

-Doing something seven times for seven day is hard! Joshua and the Israelites may have wondered why God asked them to march every day for seven days, but they did what God asked. When a person does something many times, even when it’s hard, we say that person shows perseverance. One way to encourage perseverance is to say, “Stick with it!” God wants us to show perseverance so we will keep believing and doing what God wants us to do.

-Talk about things that take perseverance, such as riding a bike, tying shoes, homework, learning a new skill/activity/sport, or doing a puzzle. Talk about how you had to “stick with it” to accomplish the tasks.

-God expected Joshua and the people to obey. Talk about people such as parents, teachers, and caregivers they obey. What are some situations in which we are asked to obey?

-Try acting out the whole story of Joshua and the wall at Jericho. March around six times around a table or something in your home. On the seventh time, have everyone give a loud shout and gently pretend to push a wall down.
